An Easy Death by Charlaine Harris

book review I will be the first to admit that this genre is not one I would normally read. I don’t care for westerns, fantasy novels, or books about alternate histories. However, I decided to read this one anyway because I have been a longtime fan of Charlaine Harris and wanted to see if she could persuade me to enjoy a genre I would normally avoid. Well, kudos Charlaine. I liked this book far more than I thought I would. It’s expertly told, imaginative, magical, and extremely intriguing. Gunnie Rose is a really cool character and her story is one I won’t soon forget. I got caught up in the gun-slinging, the wizardry, and being in a different or alternate time for the US. I […]

A Cast-Off Coven by Juliet Blackwell

Is it me, or is this cozy mystery series really dark? I feel the like paranormal aspects are a little scary if I am being honest! First our amateur sleuth, Lily was casting off La Llorna and now she is ridding demons? Yikes! In any event, I really am finding that I love this series! It’s been quite a while since I have found a paranormal book that holds my attention but this series is. In fact, I immediately picked up the third book in this series and plan to read it soon. Perhaps this year I’ll work my way through the series! Here’s to hoping.  Anyway, since this is an older series I will keep this review short and sweet. All the books in […]

Witched at Birth by Dakota Cassidy

This is such a cute and fun new series and I can’t wait to continue on with it! This book is filled with the best MAGIC & WITCHERY that I have encountered in a long time. This story is a quick and light read but is easy to get lost in. The main character Winnie is a hilarious witch who just got 0ut of “witch prison” for setting her ex’s warehouse on fire. As part of her parole she has to go to Paris Texas to basically repent and is found in a tough spot when the man she is running away from (said ex, whose warehouse she burnt down) is the person she has to stay with. How cute is that??? WHAT IS INCORPERATED IN THIS […]

Secondhand Spirits by Juliet Blackwell

This is one of the better paranormal mystery series I have read in a long time and I found myself breezing right through it. I will admit that some of the plot is a bit unsettling (in a scary sort of way) but I think that’s what really draws me to the story.  Anyway, this is going to be a very short review because I never actually revived it on goodreads so I can’t remember everything, but I do know that I really liked it and immediately picked up the second book without hesitation. I actually just finished that one and loved it as well. So if you are looking for a paranormal cozy mystery series I very much recommend this one!

Caught Dead Handed by Carol J. Perry

This will be a mini review because I negelected to review it on goodreads and can’t remember everything that happened in the story. While I can’t seem to remember enough bout the book to write a long review, I do know that I really enjoyed it. It takes place in Salem MA which is about 30 minutes from where I live and deals with a sleuthing witch (well, she’s in denial of her abilities but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have the). It’s an interesting story, although a little long, but I really enjoyed the mystery.
