Southern Sass and Killer Cravings is the first book in a brand new cozy mystery series. This book fits in perfectly with other culinary cozies and even some paranormal as our MC is being “haunted” by her dead mother. I use quotes around haunted because there is nothing malevolent about it, just that her mother who has passed is speaking to her about the murder that has taken place. For the most part, I thought this was a cute cozy. I did find it to drag in places and I found myself skipping around a bit, but it’s certainly worth the read for those who enjoy the genre. It could be a case of “it’s me, not you” that made it feel a little slow, […]
book review I will be the first to admit that this genre is not one I would normally read. I don’t care for westerns, fantasy novels, or books about alternate histories. However, I decided to read this one anyway because I have been a longtime fan of Charlaine Harris and wanted to see if she could persuade me to enjoy a genre I would normally avoid. Well, kudos Charlaine. I liked this book far more than I thought I would. It’s expertly told, imaginative, magical, and extremely intriguing. Gunnie Rose is a really cool character and her story is one I won’t soon forget. I got caught up in the gun-slinging, the wizardry, and being in a different or alternate time for the US. I […]
Gone with the Ghost is the first in a brand new paranormal mystery series by Erin McCarthy. While it’s an extremely quick read at only 220 pages, everything get done in an ample amount of time to keep readers satisfied. For me, I love paranormal mysteries so any new ones that are being released will almost immediately call my name. On top of that, knowing that this book was written by Erin McCarthy (I used to read all of her books way back in the day) I knew I had to have this one. Did I enjoy it? Very much! It’s a lighthearted read and contains a heroine that will make you laugh out loud! It’s got the perfect amount of paranormal as well mixed […]
This is such a cute and fun new series and I can’t wait to continue on with it! This book is filled with the best MAGIC & WITCHERY that I have encountered in a long time. This story is a quick and light read but is easy to get lost in. The main character Winnie is a hilarious witch who just got 0ut of “witch prison” for setting her ex’s warehouse on fire. As part of her parole she has to go to Paris Texas to basically repent and is found in a tough spot when the man she is running away from (said ex, whose warehouse she burnt down) is the person she has to stay with. How cute is that??? WHAT IS INCORPERATED IN THIS […]
This will be a mini review because I negelected to review it on goodreads and can’t remember everything that happened in the story. While I can’t seem to remember enough bout the book to write a long review, I do know that I really enjoyed it. It takes place in Salem MA which is about 30 minutes from where I live and deals with a sleuthing witch (well, she’s in denial of her abilities but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have the). It’s an interesting story, although a little long, but I really enjoyed the mystery.
