Class Mom by Laurie Gelman

Oh my gooooosssshhhhh!!!!! This book is wacky, over the top, and funny as hell! I have been crying/laughing for the past few hours reading this book and I couldn’t get enough of it! Laurie Gelman better be writing a follow up to this one because if she doesn’t I will cry forever! Like, the ugliest of all ugly cries. You know, total snottage, weirdly shaped face kind of cry. It’s just to freakin perfect to stand on it’s own. I mean this will all sincerity too.  The heroine/mom who is the main focus of this story reminds me of Katy Mixon (aka Katie Otto) from American Housewife (that hilarious tv show on NBC). She has the most insane sense of humor- the kind that will […]

Perfect Mishap by Aimee Horton

This is one of the funniest chick lit books I have read in a long time! I enjoyed every single second of it and frankly, did not want it to end. Everything about it is light-hearted, breezy, and downright hilarious! I found myself laughing out loud almost the whole way through. It’s like the main character Dottie says all the things us parents want to say out loud but can’t because we would look extremely rude. Gosh, this book is just a blast! Readers who are interested in this book should note that while it is a part of an overall series featuring Dottie, one could easily read it as a standalone as I did. I don’t feel like I missed anything crucial that were […]

Mums Just Wanna Have Fun by Lucie Wheeler

Lucie Wheeler is quickly becoming one of my all time favorite chick lit authors. Her books are down to earth, 100% relatable (especially to moms out there) and clearly well studied when it comes to subject matter. In this one, Lucie touches upon the harder aspects of being a single parent as well as issues like postpartum depression and raising a child with autism. Now, I am not sure if she had researched autism or if she knows about it based on experience but I will tell to you this- she knows her stuff! It’s so nice to read up on a subject like this when it is portrayed CORRECTLY. I loved Jack, but I could certainly appreciate the struggles that his mom has when […]

The First Time Mums’ Club by Lucie Wheeler

Hands down, this is one of the most delightful chick lit novels I have read in a long time! It is filled with everything that us chick lit fans have come to love with these novels- friendships, love, charming and lovable characters, and a plot driven with real life issues that all women can relate to. If this is the type of book you like, then I would strongly recommend giving this wonderful debut novel a try. It’s the perfect read to cozy up with and one that I won’t soon forget.  With that, this book is about 4 very different women who live completely opposite lives. However, they do all have one thing in common- pregnancy. When they come together at the First Time […]

The Juggling Act by Carol Maloney Scott

I have not read a good chick lit book / romantic comedy in a long time! Prior to getting into romances these types of books were my go-t0. Gah, what have I been missing? I totally adored this book. It is light, fun, entertaining, and quite “real” as I am sure we have all been in the character’s shoes once or twice in our lives. What really got me hooked to this book though is how chaotic everything was! Normally this could be confusing to readers but with this one it’s what gets us readers laughing in the first place. Who knew that Claire’s mother had such a mouth on her? And how is it possible that Claire mistook Excedrin for Ambien. Ha ha, I […]
