Pruning the Dead by Julia Henry

Pruning the Dead is the first book in the Garden Squad Mystery series and it has become a top favorite of mine! This is the first cozy I have come across in a long time that felt more serious. I also think I learned quite a bit about gardening (my green thumb is horrible), so I may use some of the advise given at the […]

Murder on Cape Cod by Maddie Day

Murder on Cape Cod was released exclusively at Barnes&Noble a few months ago. It is not currently available on amazon but will be released there on December 31st. I happened upon this book at the bookstore in my area and had no idea it wouldn’t be released through amazon until the end of the year! Not that I care all too much because I really enjoyed […]

Southern Sass and Killer Cravings by Kate Young

Southern Sass and Killer Cravings is the first book in a brand new cozy mystery series. This book fits in perfectly with other culinary cozies and even some paranormal as our MC is being “haunted” by her dead mother. I use quotes around haunted because there is nothing malevolent about it, just that her mother who has passed is speaking to her about the murder […]

Restaurant Weeks Are Murder by Libby Klein

BOOK REVIEW I just adore this series! Poppy is such a fun character with a sparkling personality and sense of humor. Not only am I devouring the mystery but I am laughing at the things she thinks and says. Another thing that makes this series is Poppy’s great aunt Ginny. She reminds me of Grandma Mazur from the Stephanie Plum series- she’s silly, quirky, and […]

It’s Your Party, Die If You Want To by Vickie Fee

Short Review: I enjoyed this book. It’s got action, a cool sleuth, and great party planning ideas. However, some aspects of the book were a bit slow for me and I couldn’t have cared less to continue reading it or not. It’s just not one of those books that leave you eager for more. That said, I will continue the series because I enjoy both Liv […]

Deceased and Desist by Misty Simon

Short Review: This book seemed smaller than the previous two but I still enjoyed reading it and following Tallie as she cracked a new case! While I wish there was a bit more buildup in the beginning (everything happened so fast) this is an enjoyable cozy mystery with a cute cast of characters. I will certainly be looking for the next one when it’s released.

The Whispered Word by Ellery Adams

The second book in the Secret Book and Scone Society was a hit for me. I felt the pacing in the first book was really slow but it certainly picked up in this book. This review will be short because I honestly cannot remember too much about the book as I read it a while ago and neglected to write my thoughts down, but I […]

Death by Coffee by Alex Erickson

I loved Death by Coffee by Alex Erickson even though many readers were on the fence with this one. There’s just something about coffee and books (which are a prominent part of this series) that sucks me in! Anyway, I never wrote a formal review of this novel on goodreads so I can’t remember that much about the book (what you need to know about […]

Cremains of the Day by Misty Simon

Cremains of the Day is a good start to a brand new cozy mystery series. Misty Simon is a talented author and this is clearly shown through her writing style and storytelling abilities. I enjoyed her characters- especially our sleuth, Tallulah Graver. She’s a fun piece of work and her ability to overcome such adversary in her life post divorce is commendable. The mystery was […]

Caught Dead Handed by Carol J. Perry

This will be a mini review because I negelected to review it on goodreads and can’t remember everything that happened in the story. While I can’t seem to remember enough bout the book to write a long review, I do know that I really enjoyed it. It takes place in Salem MA which is about 30 minutes from where I live and deals with a […]
