Leave No Scone Unturned by Denise Swanson

Leave No Scone Unturned by Denise Swanson

Leave No Scone Unturned is the second book in the Chef-to-Go mystery series! One of my favorite things about this series is how Denise Swanson makes the murder so complex. They aren’t your average mysteries where it’s easy to spot the killer and the actual murders that take place are big deals. It’s not over something small. This makes the stories much more intriguing and easy to devour. That being said, I recommend that if you chose to read this series that you read the books in order. Some cozy mysteries can be read in whatever order you choose but this series has a budding romance and friendships that need to be followed in order. Otherwise, things will be spoiled.  If you are a fan […]

Canyons, Caravans, & Cadavers by Tonya Kappes

Canyons, Caravans, & Cadavers is the 6th book in the Camper & Criminals cozy mystery series! This series is a must read and one that I can’t help but devour. These characters are some of the best I have read and I feel a deep connection with them all. Normal Kentucky is also an amazing fictional town. I can almost smell the flowers and feel the breeze coming off the pages! Tonya does a wonderful job when it comes to describing the setting and the cute campers! If I were to ever travel I would want these types of campers to live in myself!  With that being said, this is an amazing series! The mystery is fantastic- I honestly didn’t know “who-dun-it” until it was […]

One Potato, Two Potato, Dead by Lynn Cahoon

One Potato, Two Potato, Dead is the third installment in the Farm-to-Fork mystery series! Lynn Cahoon is a wonderful mystery writer and I am always anxious for her next novel (especially within this series). She makes her characters lovable, tough, and charming. With that being said, I truly love this series and think this is the perfect addition. While I wish there were more recipes included (I love to replicate them) I didn’t have any issues with the book overall. I think the mystery aspects were fantastic, I didn’t figure out the killer until it was revealed (although I admittedly had my suspicions) and I loved all the talk of soup (soup was the prominent source of foods throughout the book).  If you are a […]

Trouble on the Books by Essie Lang

Trouble on the Books is the first book in a brand new cozy mystery series! This book features a heroine who has just opened up a new bookstore in her hometown of Alexandria Bay. While this is interesting in itself (us bookworms LOVE bookstores), it’s even cooler to see that this bookstore is in a castle! I love stories with original settings and this is exactly what I got with this novel. Aside from the setting I found that I really enjoyed the characters in this book. Shelby is a woman after my own heart and she takes pride in what she does. Not only that, it’s clear that she feels deeply for her family. The only thing I felt was missing in the novel […]

Blog Tour: With or Without You by Shari Low

READ MY BOOK REVIEW I found With or Without You to be a relevant and original read, one that I had a hard time putting down when I needed to deal with life. Shari Low has managed to write a beautiful story that has just as many laugh-out-loud moments as it does tearful ones. And because of this, I really enjoyed the story. This book illuminates second guessing oneself. It shows the trials and tribulations or marriage and if a person made the right choice and it is done so in a manner that is 100% believable. While I am glad I am not standing in Liv and Nate’s shoes, I am so happy to have been on the journey with them. I have only […]

Rosie’s Travelling Tea Shop by Rebecca Raisin

What a lovely story! I don’t recall reading a book by Rebecca Raisin but that will certainly change once she releases more books. I really enjoyed this one. The author incorporated delicious desserts and teas while showing us that sometimes change isn’t a bad thing. I think any reader who is in need of a pick me up should check out Rosie’s Traveling Tea Shop. It’s an eye opening novel and filled with some amazing character growth and experiences. I certainly wouldn’t mind traveling with Rosie and learning a thing or two from her along the way. In the story readers will meet Rosie who is in the process of divorcing her cheating husband. When he calls her a cold fish and a person who […]

Genre Guides: Culinary Cozy Mystery Starters

Hi, everyone! I have had some questions from readers and where to start when it comes to cozy mysteries so I decided to put together some genre guides! I will do my best to post these on a weekly basis but sometimes life gets in the way and things get put to the side. I promise though that I will do my best! In this first guide I will talk about culinary cozy mysteries. By definition, these types of cozies focus on amateur sleuths who work in the culinary field. Bakers, those who own restaurants, and things like that. This is actually my personal favorite sub-genre of cozies because I love baking myself and also because the authors typically add recipes throughout the story.   THE […]
