My Rating :
From USA Today Bestselling Author Meghan Quinn, comes a hilarious romantic comedy that will touch your heart and cause you to roar with laughter as you escape into Rosie Bloom's attempt to write a romance novel.
Her bosom heaved at an alarming rate as his rough hand found its way down to her soft, yet wiry briar patch...
Can you say briar patch in a romance novel? What about breasts? Do bosoms really heave?
Goodness, I have no idea what I'm doing. I’m a virgin attempting to write a romance novel and I'm having an impossible time trying to write a passionate and swoon-worthy love scene worthy of being published, thanks to my lack of experience.
My two best friends encourage me to drop the pen, step outside my comfort zone, and gain some real life experience through multiple dating facets such as blind dates, online profiles, and random hookups. But losing my "flower" is proving to be much tougher than expected…
This is the story of my awkward, humiliating, and slightly terrifying life, but like all romance novels, I know it will end in a happily ever after. At least that's what I keep telling myself.
Note: When I first read The Virgin Romance Novelist Chronicles it was 2 different books. Therefore, this review will include both my reviews.
THE VIRGIN ROMANCE NOVELIST:
OMG. This is another AMAZING novel by the queen of romantic comedy, Meghan Quinn! This novel is laugh out loud funny. The references for sex that the main character, Rosie, uses are freakin hilarious! I don’t know how she comes up with this stuff but I almost peed my pants laughing so many times. This book is just utter brilliance! While it’s crazy to see that an attractive woman like Rosie had NO experience in anything related to sex, the fact that the author made this even believable for these times is amazing! Honestly, I loved every single minute of this book and I can’t wait to dive into the second book in the series THE RANDY ROMANCE NOVELIST.
This book is about Rosie, a virgin in her 20’s who is trying to write a romance book. The problem with this though is that Rosie thinks that the book should have sex scenes. But she doesn’t know anything about sex (and I mean ANYTHING). So she goes on a mission with a little help from her two best friends, Henry and Delany to become “deflowered”. Normally, losing one’s virginity shouldn’t be hard. I mean, most men love the idea of taking this precious gift from women. But not Rosie. She has a series of mishaps throughout the novel when it comes to losing it… Say for example, the powder explosion from her nether regions after getting a bad wax job. Or that tiny bit of flatulence when a guy goes down on her for the first time… OOPPSS!! LMAO. Lucky for Rosie, every step of the way she has her friends to lean on. But what happens when feelings start to develop between her and a friend? Can she go all the way? Or will the possibility of losing her best friend be enough to make her stay away?
Overall, I LOVED this book. It’s funny, sweet, and an all-around good time. I laughed out loud A LOT. So much that my husband and neighbors looked at me funny because they could hear me out my window. If you haven’t read a novel by Meghan Quinn yet, I strongly suggest it. She is one of the BEST romantic comedy authors out there. Also, pick this book up. It’s worth it!
The Randy Romance Novelist:
O.M.G. I never could have imagined that Meghan Quinn could write a funnier novel than the Virgin Romance Novelist and The Mother Road. But she has outdone herself with this book; The Randy Romance Novelist- making it my FAVORITE book of 2016. The amount of laughter that come out of my body while I was reading this book is INSANE. I didn’t think anything could make me laugh as hard in my life. WOW. When she leaves a warning at the end of the blurb that lets you know you will probably burst out in laughter (I certainly did, even at inappropriate times), pay attention to it. SERIOUSLY. HEHE.
This book follows the life of Rose who we first meet in The Virgin Romance Novelist (if you haven’t read it, read it before diving into this one). Rosie; who used to be a virgin and had the naiveté of a 10-year-old, has finally met the man of her dreams (and his package). Rosie and Henry have been friends forever, but there was always a little love simmering under the surface- they just needed to open their eyes. But now they are happily living together and we as readers get to go on her journey as she discovers more about sex, her own crazy libido, and a ton of penis paraphernalia. With her hilarious friends at her side, and all the personal hijinks that one can possibly get into, this book and the story of Rosie AND Henry’s lives will make you squeal with delight. I honestly hope that the author will continue with Rosie’s story as I don’t think it should end here. Without spoiling the plot, there is SO MUCH MORE to Rosie’s life and I would love to see her discover marriage and family. I simply need more and I think many readers will feel the same!
If you haven’t had the pleasure to read many (or any) of Meghan Quinn’s books I HIGHLY recommend giving her a try. She is my FAVORITE author of all time and all of her previously released books WILL be read by me- as well as her future books. She has a knack with storytelling and her characters will make you giggle inappropriately. I absolutely LOVED this book and it is my favorite of the year! Meghan Quinn is the queen of romantic comedy and I think everyone should give her stories a try!
