Forests, Fishing, & Forgery by Tonya Kappes

I love this series so much!!! The books covers, the characters, the sleuthing, the setting, the banter, and everything in between is perfect. Tonya Kappes has a knack for cozy mysteries and I have recently become a huge fan of her books. In fact, I loved this series so much that I grabbed the first book in each of her series. They are honestly that good. Every time she releases a new book I **squee** because I am so excited to see what will happen with her characters next. Sigh, too bad I am all caught up in the series. I simply don’t want to wait for the next installment!  Forests, Fishing, & Forgery is the third book in the Camper & Criminal Cozy mystery […]

Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty

Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty

MY THOUGHTS This book is so different than the authors previous books. What I liked about her other books; Big Little Lies, The Husband’s Secret, and Truly Madly Guilty, is the fact that she was able to weave a mundane issue into something extravagant. Nine Perfect Strangers barely fell within this pattern though and I found myself somewhat disappointed. One of the main things I kept thinking to myself while reading is “what’s the point of the book”. It seemed to wander aimlessly and felt more like a character study than a book with a rich and interesting plot. Admittedly, when I got to the end I did find the plot interesting (you know, when you look back AFTER you finally gain an understanding of […]

Bleeding Tarts by Kristen Weiss

Bleeding Tarts by Kristen Weiss

There was absolutely nothing that I didn’t like about this book! It’s fun, filled with humor, and has relatable characters. Some are a bit eccentric (Charlene and Marla) but I loved them because of it! I have to admit, I was weary going into this one because I didn’t LOVE the first book in the series, but this one was perfection. I’m really glad I decided to give it a try.  Bleeding Tarts is the second book in the Pie Town Mystery series which follows Val (the owner of Pie Town) and her sidekick Charlene. Val is your typical woman in her early 30’s who has a knack for figuring out the who-dun-it in murders. Charlene is her eccentric sidekick who is a bit wacko, […]

The Runaway Bridesmaid by Daisy James

This is a charming and sweet read that is sure to warm your heart! The author has a knack for keen detail and writes characters as if they are your close next door neighbors. For a debut novel, this is a wonderful read and I will surely be looking for more books by her in the future.  The first thing about this book that caught my attention is the cute cover. I am personally a sucker for sweet and gorgeous covers and this one hits the mark. In addition to this, I loved the blurb – bridesmaid is cheated on and leaves the country to find solace at her late aunt’s estate only to find more than she bargained for–. I mean this all screams […]

If the Coffin Fits by Ellie Alexander

If the Coffin Fits by Ellie Alexander

Another enjoyable cozy mystery from Lillian Bell! I really like this series. The fact that it’s set around a funeral parlor (with the heroine working there with her family) is quite original. Even more, the characters are top notch. Desiree Turner is quickly becoming one of my favorite sleuths and I know I am going to continue to plow through this series right beside her. I think the ending of this one is pretty intriguing as well. It doesn’t end in a cliffhanger but the last page really ends in a bang making me want the next book that much more! If you are a fan of cozy mysteries and amateur sleuths, I very much recommend reading the Funeral Parlor mystery series. It’s a fantastic […]

The Cosy Teashop in the Castle by Caroline Roberts

This is a charming chick lit novel that I thoroughly enjoyed! The characters are super sweet and life like (Ellie is a woman after my own heart), the setting is beautiful (a lovely castle in the countryside) and the plot is well thought out, original, and sweet. Having not read a chick lit in a while, I am so glad I jumped right into this one. It makes me want to continue reading this genre (as it has always been a top favorite) and find more books by the author.  The story is about a woman named Ellie who opens up a tearoom in a castle in order to turn a mundane life into a fun filled one doing what she loves. Her tearoom is […]

The Whispered Word by Ellery Adams

The second book in the Secret Book and Scone Society was a hit for me. I felt the pacing in the first book was really slow but it certainly picked up in this book. This review will be short because I honestly cannot remember too much about the book as I read it a while ago and neglected to write my thoughts down, but I do know that I enjoyed this book much more than the first one.

Grounds for Remorse by Misty Simon

Grounds for Remorse is the second book in the Tallie Graver mystery series. Overall, I really liked this one. I read it in one sitting and found myself to be entranced in the story. I think the author is getting better and better as the series progresses as well because I did like it better then the first one. Will I be continuing the series based off this one? Yes, I will. I am really excited for the next one which will be releasing in September.  For those who are interested in the series but haven’t read the first book, its about an amateur sleuth who works as both a cleaning lady and a funeral parlor assistant. This is initially what caught my attention when […]

I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella

I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella

Sophie Kinsella always manages to make me smile with her books and that is no different with this one. All in all, I adored this book. Poppy is such a fun and charming heroine and she reminded me of Becky Bloomwood from the Shopaholic series (who is actually one of my favorite characters ever written). Of course she is not as naive as Becky, but she has the same charm, wit, and humor. So that was a definite plus in terms of my reading experience. In addition to this I really enjoyed how the whole plot unfolded. And the concept? What a cute and unique idea! Overall, this is just a fantastic novel and I truly enjoyed reading it and spending time with the characters […]

Perfect Weddings by Lynda Renham

This book was a lot of fun to read! While some of it was a bit over the top, I truly found myself enjoying it anyway. Who knew being a wedding planner can be so chaotic? Tehee. Overall, I found this novel to be very charming and cute. I really enjoyed the characters, I found myself laughing a whole lot, and I enjoyed the dramatics of it all. This is definitely one of those books you need to read if your looking for some light fun.  So this book is about Amy (mortician turned wedding planner). She is the most successful wedding planner in London, and everyone is scrambling to have her plan their perfect wedding. But things start to go awry when she ends […]
