This series is my guilty pleasure! I love everything about it- the setting, the characters, the mysteries, and the charm! Tonya Kappes is still a fairly new author to me but right now I am absolutely hooked to her stories. She writes these books with exquisite detail and brings her characters to life. I wouldn’t mind a visit to Normal, Kentucky is this was a real place. If you are a fan of cozy mysteries and/or like books that come free in the kindle unlimited program them I highly recommend this book and series to you! I can’t wait to see what Mae digs up next, especially with Fifi by her side!

Summer at Buttercup Beach is the latest novel from one of my favorite chick lit authors, Holly Martin. Readers will be swept away by this friends to lovers romp and fall head over heels with Buttercup Beach. This is the type of place where we readers can imagine ourselves vacationing in, and possibly even wanting to live. If you have read Spring at Blueberry Bay (one of my favorites of the year) then you may remember Freya and Rome who were secondary characters. Those two are actually the couple that I wanted to see played out in their own book and this is for them! So to say I was excited to read this one would be an understatement. And alas, I wasn’t disappointed! Summer […]
Lindsey Kelk is an amazing author and I highly anticipate her releases. So when I saw she was releasing a new book (this one) I knew I had to read it! All of my TBR pile was actually put on hold so I could dive into this one and I was not disappointed in the slightest! While I did find it to be a little more slow than her previous release (Always the Bridesmaid) I still enjoyed this one immensely. The characters – Liv and Adam – were a riot (and slightly sad, but for reasons you will see when you read it), the secondary characters were just as good (I would love to see a spin off with them) and the plot engaging. Who […]
This book is FABULOUS! I won this book on twitter from the author (thank you!) and hadn’t had a chance to read it… Until now. AND OMG I am so glad I read this book. I am now officially hooked on all things Lindsey Kelk and I cannot WAIT to read more of her novels. This one in particular is LAUGH OUT LOUD FUNNY. It’s also sweet, fun, charming, and totally adorable. I loved the characters, the plot, and all the shenanigans that go on throughout the novel. And while I have never been in Maddie’s shoes before, I can totally relate to her character as I (like her) have a hard time saying no to people EVEN WHEN they have ridiculous expectations. Gah, I […]
I have been a fan of Lindsey Kelk’s work for a while now and have slowly been making my way through her novels. This one in particular has been sitting on my TBR shelf and kindle for a few months and I picked it up because of the GORGEOUS and FUN cover. I am so glad that I have actually gotten around to reading it. The Single Girl’s To-Do List is a breath of fresh air and pure chick like GOLD. It’s got a fantastic set of characters, a realistic and relatable plot, and a little bit of an unexpected romance to bring a smile to readers face. For those who aren’t too familiar with chick lit novels, I want to tell you the basic […]
Lucie Wheeler is quickly becoming one of my all time favorite chick lit authors. Her books are down to earth, 100% relatable (especially to moms out there) and clearly well studied when it comes to subject matter. In this one, Lucie touches upon the harder aspects of being a single parent as well as issues like postpartum depression and raising a child with autism. Now, I am not sure if she had researched autism or if she knows about it based on experience but I will tell to you this- she knows her stuff! It’s so nice to read up on a subject like this when it is portrayed CORRECTLY. I loved Jack, but I could certainly appreciate the struggles that his mom has when […]
Hands down, this is one of the most delightful chick lit novels I have read in a long time! It is filled with everything that us chick lit fans have come to love with these novels- friendships, love, charming and lovable characters, and a plot driven with real life issues that all women can relate to. If this is the type of book you like, then I would strongly recommend giving this wonderful debut novel a try. It’s the perfect read to cozy up with and one that I won’t soon forget. With that, this book is about 4 very different women who live completely opposite lives. However, they do all have one thing in common- pregnancy. When they come together at the First Time […]
Holly Martin always manages to put a smile on my face through her books. Sure, some of them follow the same pattern and the only difference is characters, but the places she takes me to makes it so that these similarities don’t matter. Her stories are uplifting, light, funny, heartfelt, and utterly charming. Her characters are delightful, a breath of fresh air, and downright adorable. And the sparkle of romance? Well, it may be fast, but is completely satisfying. If you are in the mood for a lighthearted chick lit novel, Holly Martin is a good “go to” author. Just like the other books I have read by her, this is a winner. So, what is The Holiday Cottage by the Sea about? Well, it’s […]
What Fresh Hell is the perfect spring read. It captures the busy wedding season impeccably and has characters any female can relate to. Oh, and I don’t want to forget the laugh out loud moments that are thrown throughout the novel! I laughed a lot while reading this one. Ladies, this is a great book to anyone who loves books based around the wedding season. Lilah Fox is living a perfectly serene existence. She has a great job, a nice boyfriend, and a handful of friends that all girls hope for. Unfortunately, this serene existence is coming into an upheaval because it’s WEDDING SEASON. These weddings (and there are many) are taking over Lilah’s life (and her bank account). And then a bombshell is dropped. […]
This book is everything I expect from a Holly Martin novel- cute, fun, romantic, and 100% sweet. I am never disappointed in her novels and don’t think I ever will be. If you have read her last release, you will notice that the characters from that book play a role in this one. This is an interconnected series of standalones. PS: I don’t have a lot to say about this one because it follows the same pattern as her other books so this is a mini review.
