Beaches, Bungalows, and Burglaries by Tonya Kappes

After reading a couple of Tonya Kappes cozy mysteries I can officially say that she is now a TOP FAVORITE author. I need to buy all the books! Seriously though, Tonya brings these characters to life. She makes them become a part of you and makes you miss them when the book is finished. The way she describes the setting, in vivid detail, makes you feel like you are actually a part of the scenery. I now want to buy a camper and go to Happy Trails. Finally, the way she describes the people of this small town? Absolutely PERFECT. I not only want to visit Happy Trails in Kentucky myself (so sad it’s only a fictional world), but I also want to make friends […]

The Sunshine Sisters by Jane Green

The Sunshine Sisters by Jane Green

The Sunshine Sisters by Jane Green is a phenomenal novel about the complexities of families. Green dives very deep in this one and I found it to be a moving novel with down to earth and lifelike characters. What I also liked about this novel is the fact that I was hooked to the pages. Sure, a lot of books are catchy and grasp their readers attention from beginning to end, but somehow, this one was different. I was EXCITED to read it. I wanted to pick up the book even when I was busy (summer is such a busy time of year in my life), and I absolutely did NOT want to put it down. I was enthralled in the lives of these characters […]

The Accidental Honeymoon by Portia MacIntosh

The Accidental Honeymoon by Portia MacIntosh

I picked up this book on a whim today and read it in one sitting- clearly, I really enjoyed it! It’s been a while since I have picked up a chick lit book and once again, this book reaffirmed why I love this genre in the first place. For one, the books are light and fluffy. There isn’t too much drama, and the drama that is has is well placed and adds a little pizzazz to the book. Secondly, the characters are adorable and so much fun to hang with. I love down to earth and relatable characters, and this is what you get from chick lit novels. Finally, the covers. I love a great chick lit cover, and it not only draws me to […]

Death, Taxes, and a French Manicure by Diane Kelly

Death, Taxes, and a French Manicure by Diane Kelly

I enjoyed this book. Really, I did. But it took me an entire week to read it! This has nothing to do with the books length either as it’s under 350 pages, and nothing to do with the plot or characters- both were great. I just had no desire to read it from start to finish and I didn’t care when I had to put it down. Being in a major book slump hasn’t helped and neither have the holidays and upcoming holidays. It’s just my mood wasn’t in it. Sigh… Had I really been in the mood to read this one I think I would have LOVED it. But for now, I’ll go ahead and say it was good but not GREAT because it […]

Surprise Me by Sophie Kinsella

Surprise Me by Sophie Kinsella

Surprise Me is another brilliant read by one of my favorite authors, Sophie Kinsella. When I began reading age appropriate ADULT novels, Kinsellas books where among the first ones I picked up. Years later, I am still a huge fan and am always excited for her to release a new one. One of my favorite things about her books are her characters- specifically, her heroines. Has anyone else noticed how similar they are in the type of voice they have and the way they behave? I sure have. And while this may be a total turn off for some, it is what I look forward to most about her books. In addition to this, each of her novels are widely unique from one another. Kinsella […]

I Heart Forever by Lindsey Kelk

I Heart Forever by Lindsey Kelk

Based on the way this one ended, I really hope this won’t be the last book in the series. I mean, to see Angela in her new role(s) would be absolutely amazing! I don’t want to say what these roles may be in case you are waiting to read it, but if you MUST know you can find it in this (view spoiler). Anyway, the I Heart series has quickly made it’s way into my heart as I have been slowly devouring this series over the past year in order to be ready for this book. Now, while it’s certainly not my favorite book in the series it still quenched my needs and made me all sorts of giddy.  One of the best things about this […]

I Heart Christmas by Lindsey Kelk

I Heart Christmas by Lindsey Kelk

Having read this entire series with the exception of the newest release (which is now live, SQUEE) I have to say that I feel like Angela is a close friend of mine. I have gone through this journey with her as she crossed the pond, found love, landed a great job, was blessed with an amazing cast of friends, and went through plenty of mishaps (which I might add, are simply hilarious). So it feels a little bittersweet that there is only one more book in the series (so far…). Sigh. I just love her and everyone within these stories that I don’t want them to end. BUT, I am very glad I have read these books because they are a lot of fun.  In […]

I Heart London by Lindsey Kelk

I Heart London by Lindsey Kelk

Lindsey Kelk is one of my all time favorite chick lit authors and it’s simply because of THIS series. Sure, I have read two of her other books outside the series and loved those too but this one gets me every time. I have actually been scrambling to read these books in anticipation for her latest novel, I Heart Forever, which just released today! So I only have one more book to go before I can dive into that one. That said, I am super excited because I simply cannot get enough of Angela and her hectic life.  In this one, Angela jets off to London with Alex and Jenny in tow for her moms sixtieth birthday party. Unfortunately, that is not all that is […]

I Heart Vegas by Lindsey Kelk

I Heart Vegas by Lindsey Kelk

I Heart Vegas is the 4th book in the I Heart series. This is NOT a series of standalones, and each book needs to be read in order of publication- otherwise, you’ll be feeling very confused! With that, I adore this series. I love the journeys that we as readers get to go on with Angela especially for the fact that she makes everything so much fun. Her friends, her relationships, the way she conducts herself, EVERYTHING is just hilarious. And because of this, I can’t get enough of this series. Only a few more books to go until the brand new book in the series releases in September. Yipee!!!  In this installment, readers will travel to Vegas with Angela, Jenny, and Sadie. Of course […]

I Heart Paris by Lindsey Kelk

I Heart Paris by Lindsey Kelk

I Heart Paris is the 3rd book in the I Heart series and should be read in order of publication. This is a fun and humorous chick lit series that will keep readers laughing at the misadventures of Angela for days! This is also one of my favorite chick lit series and reminds me of the Shopaholic series (without the shopping addiction) by Sophie Kinsella. So if you like Kinsella’s books then you will love Lindsey Kelk’s books!  I am going to keep this review short and sweet because it is an “older” title. If you haven’t read the series, you need to start with the first book – I Heart New York and go on from there. The entire series revolves around the heroine Angela and […]
