Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most.
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up
— she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.
Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan — her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.
This book hit me like a ton of bricks. Its deep, it’s dark, it’s emotional. It has moments that will make readers laugh and it has moments that will make readers sob with everything in their being. I have never felt so touched by a book. I have never felt such an intimate and raw connection with characters. And I have never had a book come close to touching every inch of my soul. It Ends With Us is a story about bravery. It’s a book about being strong when you have nothing to keep you from collapsing. And, it’s the type of book you will never forget. I started reading in hopes that I would find that one book that would change my world. And Colleen Hoover, you did that with this one. With that being said, I am so glad my husband wasn’t home when I finished this book because I had a moment. A moment where my heart broke for everyone in the story and I had one of the ugliest cries ever. Jeez. This is just a must read and I hope that EVERYONE out in the world will read this book.
I am not going to go into this review wit details about the plot because honestly, it will do no justice to this captivating story. But I will say this- if you’re looking for a book where the characters will enter your life and never leave your heart than you have to read this book. Colleen Hoover brought these characters to life and I have never felt like I actually lived through everything with the characters like I did when reading this one. I also cannot say enough good things about this because it is simply that beautiful. However, I will say that there will be moments when you absolutely HATE everyone in the story. Then you will have moments where you can’t possibly see them NOT being together. When this happens, just keep reading.
This is by far my favorite book of 2016 and book 2 on my list of favorite books ever. Why? Because of the depth and the realness of it all. So do me a favor. If you haven’t read it? Buy it. And make sure you buy a paperback copy because you will want to always have this book close to your heart.
Colleen Hoover, I congratulate you. I have no other words because of how much awe I am in over this book. You are the reason I pick up books in the first place, because I am always searching for something epic and have found it in this one.
