Jade Childs spent ten years in captivity, but now that she’s back, the real battle for survival begins. The media shadows her. Flashbacks haunt her. Her old life evades her. Her so-called new life rejects her. She spent too many years in the dark to recognize the light. She spent too long repressing her feelings to remember how to express them. She spent a decade abandoning hope and cannot dare letting it back into her life. Jade’s not just defined by what happened to her—she’s collared to it.
When the twenty-seven-year-old woman is found,
A community wants to know the story,
Parents want to forget the story,
Friends want to be a part of the story,
And the man who still loves her faces the greatest challenge yet: letting her go.
This is one of those unique romances with forbidden undertones. It’s really hard for me to give this a genre though because it is so different. It’s not one of those kissy, feely, fall in insta love type romances. Rather, it’s more of a forbidden romance (and somewhat dark) instead. This is because two people that are meant and should have always been together never really go their chance due to some horrible life altering instances. Overall, this is a really great book. It’s not the type of romance books that most people would expect from the author, but its good all the same. I highly recommend it to everyone especially those who are looking for something unique- something they probably haven’t read before.
Jade Childs was kidnapped right outside of her home one night after leaving her boyfriend’s house. She was locked away with this man who kidnapped her for 10 years. Her boyfriend, the loving man who never stopped looking for her, makes amends (sort of) with her disappearance and completely changes his life… How so? He becomes a priest. So when Jade is rescued 10 years later, the love they once had begins to ignite again. This is not in a sexual way though, more in a way that shows and undying love that people only experience once in their lifetime. But Jade has a lot of grief to overcome. After all, she lost most of her life in those 10 years being enslaved. Torrin, now a priest, has to decide if living a godly life is for him now that his one true love is back. What will happen to these two? Will love conquer all? Or will this captivity forever change their love story?
Overall, this is a well written, smart, and unique read that I would definitely recommend to others. While it may not be my ultimate favorite book by the author, it is still one that I know will stay with me for a while.
