My Rating :
You’re not supposed to want the one who torments you.
When my stepbrother, Elec, came to live with us my senior year, I wasn’t prepared for how much of a jerk he’d be.
I hated that he took it out on me because he didn’t want to be here.
I hated that he brought girls from our high school back to his room.
But what I hated the most was the unwanted way my body reacted to him.
At first, I thought all he had going for him were his rock-hard tattooed abs and chiseled face. Then, things started changing between us, and it all came to a head one night.
Just as quickly as he’d come into my life, he was gone back to California.
It had been years since I’d seen Elec.
When tragedy struck our family, I’d have to face him again.
And holy hell, the teenager who made me crazy was now a man that drove me insane.
I had a feeling my heart was about to get broken again.
Stepbrother Dearest is a standalone novel.
WOW. I LOVED this book. Like from the minute I began reading it all the way through the end. It’s taboo, filled with angst, totally delicious, and sexy as hell! Having only read one other book by the author before I was strongly HOPING that this one would be as amazing as the other- IT WAS!!!!! I can now proceed and buy all of Penelope’s other book 🙂 YAY!!!
When we first meet Elec we immediately assume he is just a cocky, badass stepbrother with a lot of arrogance. However, deep down Elec is seriously damaged from his relationship with his father. So when he has to go live with his dad and his new family for a year, things get pretty heated. Initially Elec is determined to make is new step sisters life a living hell for no other reason than the fact that Elec hates his father. But when he gets to know her (she is sweet and charming) his feelings turn from hate to something else altogether… Something he never thought he would feel for another woman. You see, Elec is a manwhore through and through, so developing feelings for his sister no less is a bit confusing. But the two can’t help their attraction for one another and one night of passion before he leaves is on the table… What will become of these two? And how can stepbrother and sister get through with the emotional times that are ahead of them?
Overall, this is an amazing book filled with ALL things I love in romances >> Love, Hate, Angst, Lust, Second Chances, and tattooed hero’s that will make all readers swoon. The author does an amazing job telling Greta and Elec’s story that is downright heartbreaking (as you will see when you / if you have, read). I felt truly connected to the characters in this one and wish their story could continue- I am missing them both already! If you haven’t read anything by the author, I strongly suggest it. And this book should be on all romance lovers READ or TBR list!
