Clutch: a novel is the laugh-out-loud, chick lit romance chronicling the dating misadventures of Caroline Johnson, a single purse designer who compares her unsuccessful romantic relationships to styles of handbags – the “Hobo” starving artist, the “Diaper Bag” single dad, the “Briefcase” intense businessman, etc. With her best friend, bar owner Mike by her side, the overly-accommodating Caroline drinks a lot of Chardonnay, puts her heart on the line, endures her share of unworthy suitors and finds the courage to discover the “Clutch” or someone she wants to hold onto.
“LOVED. The perfect blend of sassy, smart and stylish!” Amazon Bestsellers Liz Fenton & Lisa Steinke
This book is absolutely hilarious! I really enjoyed reading about the dating misadventures of the main character, Caroline. She is smart and spunky, but can’t seem to find her one true love no matter what type of guy she dates. Mike, her best friend since they met in Harvard, is just as funny. He’s the type of guy that never settles down. He likes to run his bar, have a couple flings, and call it a night. When the two get together, they always banter back in forth, sharing silly jokes, and just being content in one another’s company. But neither think to date. The two are complete opposites, right?
Author Lisa Becker does a wonderful job with this book. Readers can relate to the characters- they have either dated someone like Mike, or they share one of the many qualities of Caroline. What I also liked about this book is the chapter labels. Each one is a handbag description and funny enough, each handbag description relates to the type of relationship Caroline will encounter in that chapter- how unique is that? I really loved it, it’s very clever. So, readers if you’re looking for a light but fun and hilarious chick lit novel than I highly suggest you read this one. It will not disappoint!
